Deepwater Horizon alarms were switched off ‘to help workers sleep’

 Here is an interesting article from the Guardian.  On the Transocean rig that exploded during this oil spill debacle vital warning systems were turned off to “spare workers being woken up by false alarms”.  You cannot make this stuff up, as more information is disclosed it becomes clear this was a preventable disaster.  Don’t get me wrong I know nothing about oil rigs but my guess is turning off vital warning systems is not considered Standard Operation Procedure.  Unbelievable!
